Non-Stick Solutions for Food Production

Food products containing sugars, oils, fats or other sticky ingredients can create significant challenges during industrial cooking and baking.

PTFE-coated materials provide a low-friction, non-stick processing surface that helps food release cleanly after cooking while reducing residue build-up on production equipment.

Applications can include:

  • Contact grilling
  • Baking and oven processes
  • Tortilla and flatbread production
  • Cooking of meat and other protein products
  • Processing of sticky or high-sugar foods
  • Release sheets for trays and cooking surfaces
  • Continuous cooking and drying processes

PTFE Cooking Belts

For continuous food production lines, Teastech can supply and fabricate PTFE-coated conveyor belts to suit the particular machinery and process.

PTFE combines excellent release characteristics with resistance to high operating temperatures, making it particularly well suited to applications where food is cooked directly on, or transported through a heated process on, the belt.

The non-stick surface can help to:

  • Improve release of cooked products
  • Reduce food residue on the belt
  • Simplify cleaning
  • Reduce production interruptions for clean-down
  • Support consistent product quality
  • Protect underlying production equipment

Belt construction, joining method, tracking requirements and material specification can all be selected to suit the individual application.

Cooking and Baking Release Sheets

Teastech can also fabricate reusable PTFE cooking and baking sheets for applications where a flexible non-stick surface is required.

These sheets provide a practical alternative to disposable release materials in suitable applications and can be manufactured to the dimensions and shape required for the customer’s production equipment.

Specialist laminated PTFE materials are available for demanding applications involving regular thermal cycling and particularly sticky ingredients.

Fabricated to Your Requirements

As well as supplying the base material, Teastech can fabricate the finished product to suit the customer’s equipment and production process.

Our experience in conveyor and belt design also allows us to consider factors such as belt tracking, drive arrangements, joining and cleaning when developing a solution.

Our capabilities include:

  • Custom-sized cooking and release sheets
  • Fabricated conveyor belts
  • Specialist belt joining
  • Edge reinforcement and other belt fabrication options
  • Material cutting and conversion
  • Replacement belts and sheets manufactured to existing dimensions

Material Selection

The correct material will depend on the food product, operating temperature, production process and required service life.

Versiv materials such as CLF907 and CLF916 have been developed specifically for demanding food processing applications, including cooking and baking release sheets involving repeated thermal cycling and sticky ingredients.

CLF907 provides a fully sintered PTFE surface with excellent release and barrier properties.

CLF916 combines excellent release properties with greater mechanical strength, dimensional stability and increased resistance to wear and abrasion.

The Teastech team can advise on the appropriate material and construction for the application.

Improving Production Efficiency

Selecting the correct cooking belt or release surface can make a significant difference to the efficiency of a food production process.

Reducing sticking and residue can mean easier cleaning, fewer interruptions and more consistent production, while a correctly specified belt or cooking sheet can provide reliable performance over repeated production cycles.
